The Catering Supervisor role is a pivotal position within a dynamic food service operation that emphasizes excellent customer service and meticulous catering management. This position is typically housed within a reputable restaurant, catering company, or food service establishment that prioritizes quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction. The company seeks a professional who can oversee the entire catering process, from order taking and scheduling drivers to managing the preparation and presentation of food. The Catering Supervisor ensures that every delivered product meets high standards of quality and presentation while also maintaining an organized and clean catering department. This role involves both operational oversight and direct customer interaction, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to resolve customer concerns effectively.
As a Catering Supervisor, you will be the driving force behind your unit's catering operations, ensuring smooth coordination between the kitchen, catering staff, delivery drivers, and guests. This hybrid role combines leadership with hands-on work, including baking, assembling catering orders, delivery, and cleanliness oversight. Your daily activities will include overseeing order accuracy, managing employee delivery assignments, and supporting catering sales initiatives such as customer callbacks, menu presentations, and community event coordination. Collaboration with retail and restaurant managers is an essential part of the role, ensuring cohesive operations that uphold the company’s reputation for excellent service.
This supervisory position involves both primary and secondary functions that encompass operational tasks such as cashier duties, dishwashing, and line cooking, which provide a comprehensive understanding of the catering environment. Additionally, the role demands attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain food quality and financial integrity, such as accurate cash flow management and tip distribution. Being proficient with POS systems and MS Office enhances your ability to manage orders and backend operations effectively.
The employed individual will be instrumental in executing daily customer service initiatives, including following up with clients, managing sales leads through active canvassing, and facilitating menu drops or tastings. These sales functions are critical for nurturing existing relationships and expanding the catering business footprint. This position demands a blend of culinary knowledge, operational management, and interpersonal skills to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting.
Overall, the Catering Supervisor role offers an exciting opportunity for those passionate about food service management and customer engagement. The company offers a structured environment where teamwork, efficiency, and high service standards are prioritized. Candidates with prior experience in restaurant or retail environments will find this role suited to their skill sets, along with those who are ready to develop leadership capabilities in the catering field.
