Job Description
Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, is a unique destination located in the picturesque Ko Olina Resort on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. This premier resort combines the rich culture and traditions of Hawaii with the magic and storytelling prowess of Disney, offering guests a captivating and immersive vacation experience like no other. Aulani is designed to celebrate the spirit of aloha through vibrant storytelling, engaging entertainment, and exceptional hospitality. The resort features a variety of dining venues, recreational activities, and family-friendly amenities, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Aulani is dedicated to creating memorable moments for every guest who walks through its doors.
The role of a Server at Aulani involves much more than simply taking and delivering orders; it is about crafting an exceptional dining experience that brings the story of Aulani to life. Servers are the face of the dining experience, responsible for greeting guests warmly, ensuring their needs are anticipated and met, and weaving the unique narrative of the resort into their interactions. This position demands a high level of guest service, an engaging and proactive approach, and the ability to connect with guests through conversation and role-playing elements, particularly in themed restaurant settings.
Servers at Aulani may be involved with specialized dining experiences that include storytelling and themed roles that enhance the overall atmosphere and guest enjoyment. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, often within banquet or high-volume restaurant settings, requiring efficiency, accuracy, and the ability to multitask while maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor. Besides serving food and beverages at proper temperatures, servers share their knowledge of menu options, including wines and spirits, and assist guests in making informed dining choices. They also provide valuable information about the resort's entertainment offerings and other guest services.
This part-time role requires flexibility, including the ability to work various shifts such as days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events. Servers need to display strong problem-solving skills, ownership of guest situations, and the capacity to remain calm and effective under pressure. Initial training requires full availability for two to three weeks, followed by ongoing availability for at least three full days per week. The pay rate for this position in Hawaii is $16.25 per hour, plus gratuities, with select benefits potentially offered depending on the level and position. Benefits may include medical and financial options, contributing to an attractive overall compensation package.
Candidates with prior serving experience, especially in high-volume or banquet environments, will find this role rewarding and challenging. The ideal server is self-directed, well respected by peers, and committed to delivering excellent guest service. Preferred candidates may have bartending experience, alcohol awareness training, and knowledge of Hawaiian or Japanese languages to further enhance guest interactions. The server role at Aulani represents an opportunity to be part of a world-class resort that blends the enchantment of Disney storytelling with the warm hospitality of Hawaii, making every dining experience truly magical.
