Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred bachelor’s degree
- One to two years of hospitality sales and/or catering experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel occasionally
- Good communication skills
- Intermediate computer proficiency
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs
- Ability to push and pull carts up to 250 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Maintain neat and professional appearance
- Compliance with company policies and safety procedures
- Ability to work varying schedules
- Attendance at training sessions and meetings required
Job Qualifications
- High school or equivalent education
- Bachelors degree or equivalent level of education preferred
- One to two years experience in sales and/or catering in hospitality industry preferred
- Excellent leadership capability
- Strong customer relations skills
- Detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills including Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, PBX, Key system, and POS
- Basic computational skills
- Good communication skills, verbal, written and electronic
- Considerable knowledge of complex mathematical calculations and computer programs
- Ability to analyze and foresee user needs
- Strong issue resolution and analytical skills
- Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws
- Self-driven and able to work independently
Job Duties
- Manage group and catering accounts to maximize business potential
- Negotiate group and catering business and contracts that meet or exceed hotel revenue goals
- Negotiate contracts, ensuring that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented
- Make on-site and field presentations to prospective clients
- Identify opportunities to up sell customer through food and beverage offerings, room upgrades, AV and lighting upgrades and spa services, if applicable
- Drive strategies to develop long term business relationships and repeat business
- Enthusiastically and proactively sell the Hotel concept to group and catering prospects
- Prospect for new catering business using a variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, trade shows, community functions, internet prospecting, and supplier partnerships
- Develop long term business relationships and consistently book repeat business
- Conduct unique site inspections that create a WOW experience for the customer
- Create customized Wedding Packages, Menus, and proposals
- Respond to all customer inquiries within 24 hours or sooner
- Maintain accurate information on bookings including program details, client correspondence, and to-do lists
- Follow proper event management procedures including BEO creation, forecasting, resume communication, and room block management
- Produce and distribute accurate banquet and catering event orders, timelines, diagrams, and resumes
- Coordinate, plan and implement wedding related marketing tactics and events
- Lead weekly and daily BEO readings
- Provide client and hotel support including handling leads, investigating guest issues, and acquiring collateral materials
- Maintain liaison with other hotel departments to facilitate agreed services
- Support and develop Azul Hospitality culture
- Drive product quality and a unique guest experience
- Maintain the hotel’s look and feel
- Develop and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships
- Schedule meetings and business group activities
- Be familiar with company policies and benefits
