The role of Catering Sales Manager is pivotal within the hotel’s Catering & Convention Services Department. This full-time position is tasked with generating meeting and banquet revenues by actively soliciting local businesses, conventions, conferences, associations, tour groups, and other key accounts. The Catering Sales Manager collaborates closely with the Director of Catering & Convention Services to strategize marketing and sales initiatives, responding dynamically to community social, political, and business trends. This role demands a proactive approach to developing and maintaining client relationships, ensuring high levels of communication and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team responsible for managing event sales from lead generation to event completion. Responsibilities include following up on inquiries, finalizing event orders, and ensuring proper coordination of events to meet client expectations. The Catering Sales Manager is also expected to be present at functions to oversee arrangements and provide assistance as needed. They will participate in departmental meetings, calls for function guarantees, and contribute to competitive industry analyses.

Job Requirements

  • 4 years catering sales and coordinating experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of multi-level database programs
  • Ability to learn and utilize the Catering Booking System (Opera)
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Good communication skills with clientele and phone etiquette
  • Good sales skills and creative in thought
  • Outgoing, service oriented, reliable, and professional image
  • Valid driver's license and transportation
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Solicits new leads for potential food and beverage business
  • Follows-up on incoming inquiries via phone, email, and walk-ins, as assigned
  • Finalizes accounts, review, and authorizes typed event orders
  • Maintains an open line of communication with each client
  • Achieves sales quotas established for each fiscal year
  • Assists the Director of Catering & Convention Services and Management in other matters as requested
  • Be present at the start of functions to ensure that the arrangements are in order and assist at special functions sponsored by the Hotel
