Legends Global is recognized as the premier partner to the world’s most iconic live events, venues, and brands. With an extensive network of 450 venues worldwide, Legends Global hosts 20,000 events annually and entertains over 165 million guests. The company leverages its comprehensive expertise across feasibility and consulting, owner’s representation, sales, partnerships, hospitality, merchandise, venue management, and content and booking to maintain a front-runner position in the world-class live event industry. Known for a culture steeped in respect, ambitious thinking, collaboration, and bold action, Legends Global is devoted to building an inclusive workplace where each team member can be authentic, impactful, and grow professionally. Their unified team approach ensures that success and winning are everyday achievements.
Managed by Legends Global, the Wilmington Convention Center is the largest convention center on the North Carolina coast, featuring flexible, LEED-certified event spaces and modern amenities. This waterfront downtown venue boasts a dedicated team specializing in logistics, catering, and audiovisual services. It stands as a distinguished venue for hosting a variety of events from corporate meetings to large-scale conventions.
The Catering Sales Manager role at the Wilmington Convention Center is a crucial position responsible for driving catering business development. This full-time, salaried, and exempt role reports directly to the Food and Beverage Director within the Food & Beverage department. The manager’s core responsibilities center around soliciting new catering business, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and coordinating with the internal Food & Beverage team members as well as other departments to ensure flawless event execution.
The Catering Sales Manager develops comprehensive food and beverage proposals, updates and improves the catering menu to reflect current trends and operational efficiency, and prepares detailed Banquet Event Orders to articulate client requirements with precision. A vital aspect of the role includes conducting site tours and tastings to engage prospective and repeat clients and facilitating presentations and planning meetings. This position also requires close collaboration with internal teams and external partners like the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and local hotels to promote the venue and generate new business.
Performance in this role is measured by the ability to provide an exceptional guest experience through meticulous event planning and seamless communication with all stakeholders. The manager helps maintain up-to-date account records using industry-specific booking software and supports forecasting and budgeting efforts. The position demands strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to sales strategies within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The candidate is expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and hospitality. There may be instances where the Catering Sales Manager fulfills the duties of the Manager on Duty (MOD), requiring supervisory responsibilities during events.
Legends Global encourages a team-oriented work culture with an emphasis on integrity, customer service excellence, and strategic sales development. The position requires availability for flexible working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by event schedules. A valid driver’s license is necessary due to travel requirements. Overall, this role offers a dynamic career opportunity for a motivated sales professional with a background in food and beverage sales and a desire to be part of a globally recognized organization facilitating premier live events.
