The Catering Sales Manager role at City Barbeque is a unique and rewarding position that perfectly blends sales expertise with a passion for hospitality. This individual will be instrumental in expanding the company’s catering sales, focusing on both corporate and social events. The role requires a strategic thinker who can develop targeted sales plans to increase market share and cultivate long-term client relationships. Reporting directly to the Regional Sales Director, the Catering Sales Manager will oversee all regional catering and outside sales events, including wedding sales for the triad market.
The position offers an excellent compensation package of 70-75k plus an uncapped 3.5% commission on all new business generated, providing an attractive earning potential for motivated sales professionals. It is a hybrid remote role, allowing work from home except for sales calls, events, networking opportunities, location visits, and meet-and-greet activities. Given the nature of the role, candidates must reside within 30 minutes of one market to ensure effective territory coverage and client engagement.
In this role, the Catering Sales Manager will take charge of creating and implementing a sales game plan aimed at increasing catering sales regionally. Key responsibilities include initiating direct sales and business development, maximizing selling time, and employing effective sales techniques such as cold calling, presentations, and negotiations. Collaboration with local catering teams and management is vital to stay updated on client needs, trends, and lead opportunities. Regular participation in networking events and client visits will strengthen relationships and foster repeat business.
The manager will also be responsible for managing client information and order processes through the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring smooth coordination from customer inquiry to event execution. A service-focused mindset and professionalism are paramount, as is the ability to handle specialty orders and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
Strong financial acumen is necessary to manage detailed records and support increased revenues through superior account service. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of proven sales experience in the restaurant or a related industry, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to negotiate and close deals effectively. A deep knowledge of food service, food safety protocols, and the local market is essential to succeed in this role. Candidates must also possess a polished and professional demeanor, be team players, and have the ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment. Weekend availability is required to meet client needs and event schedules.
