The Catering Sales Manager is entrusted with nurturing customer relationships through upselling and excellent service to promote loyalty and repeat business. Responsibilities include organizing and managing all event aspects from conception to completion, including menu planning, equipment, staffing, event execution, and follow-up activities. A key component of the role involves adherence to the standards of the MCR event standard operating procedures, precise record keeping, and leveraging technology such as Delphi for client communication and file management. The candidate must have a strong understanding of market trends and an ability to act on business opportunities with professionalism and excellent communication skills. Moreover, they are accountable for negotiating contracts and coordinating interdepartmental communication to ensure event success, all while maintaining high standards of hospitality and guest satisfaction. The position requires a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays according to hotel demands, and the candidate must be at least 18 years old with valid certifications where applicable. Job Duties

  • Greet guests happily upon arrival and throughout their stay with a smile
  • Use guests' names to ensure they feel welcomed
  • Collaborate with operations team for event planning and execution
  • Oversee hotel events and mentor team members
  • Nurture client relationships through upselling and proactive customer service
  • Plan and manage all aspects of events including menus, logistics, AV, equipment, and walkthroughs
  • Ensure accurate completion of checklists and shift handover reports
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date file systems and client communication in Delphi
  • Identify and act on business opportunities by researching market trends and competition
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written form with guests and associates
  • Negotiate event arrangements including menus, room setup, and bar setup
  • Support the hotel’s goal of delivering spotless cleanliness, product consistency, and teamwork
  • Work under pressure while maintaining composure and professionalism
  • Assist with event service participation and post-event invoicing and follow-up
