Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its commitment to excellence, innovation, and creating memorable experiences for guests. With a diverse portfolio of brands spanning luxury to select service hotels, Marriott is dedicated to fostering a culture that values diversity, inclusivity, and the unique backgrounds of its associates. Marriott’s properties are renowned for delivering high-quality service and exceptional customer experiences worldwide.

One of Marriott’s distinguished brands, W Hotels, embodies a cutting-edge luxury lifestyle philosophy characterized by originality, innovation, and a forward-thinking approach. W Hotels aims to ignite curiosity and expand worlds for guests, offering both a vibrant cultural experience and a top-tier hospitality environment. The brand thrives on a dynamic, up-for-anything spirit, known for reinventing luxury norms around the globe while emphasizing its distinct service culture anchored on the mantra Whatever/Whenever.

Currently, Marriott International is seeking a dedicated Catering Sales Manager to join its team at the Boston location, 100 Stuart St. This full-time managerial role involves handling social and local corporate catering opportunities that exceed the scope of the Group Sales teams, with a focus on events typically exceeding 150 covers. The Catering Sales Manager plays a critical role in managing and closing business that directly comes to the property, ensuring seamless turnover to operations and guaranteeing quality service delivery.

The role’s core objective is to achieve catering revenue goals by actively promoting and up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue. The manager implements the brand’s service strategies and initiatives throughout the sales process, creating lasting customer loyalty by delivering service excellence at every interaction.

Responsibilities include managing the sales efforts for local corporate and social catering, responding to incoming opportunities, and soliciting new catering business to meet revenue targets. The candidate will also negotiate contracts, develop creative event concepts, and maximize food and beverage sales. Collaboration with internal sales teams and external affiliates is essential to ensure complementary sales efforts without duplication.

Success in this role demands a profound understanding of the marketplace, from competitor insights to economic trends, enabling strategic decisions that align with market conditions and property needs. The Catering Sales Manager requires a proactive approach to forecasting, budgeting, and overseeing catering sales revenues and operations.

Furthermore, the role involves developing menus that drive sales, supporting catering promotions, and executing Marriott’s customer service and brand standards. A strong emphasis is placed on building successful relationships through collaboration with various stakeholders, including sales, kitchen teams, vendors, competitors, local communities, and catering associations.

Marriott International is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusion and diversity. The company encourages a rich blend of cultures, talents, and experiences among its associates and ensures non-discrimination on any protected basis. Joining Marriott means becoming part of a global team that accelerates professional growth, fosters belonging, and enables employees to become the best versions of themselves.
