The role of Catering Manager at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, represents an exciting and dynamic opportunity within Sodexo’s Campus Segment. This position requires an experienced, customer-focused professional who excels in delivering exceptional catering services for university, campus, and third-party events. The Catering Manager will play a crucial role in the planning, coordination, and seamless execution of a variety of events ranging from high-profile VIP gatherings to larger internal functions. This individual will interface directly with senior university leadership, including the offices of the President and Provost, Development and Alumni Relations, Finance and Administration, Deans, and the Zoellner Arts Center, ensuring all events meet Sodexo’s high standards of quality and service.

Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in managing multiple catering functions simultaneously, possess a keen eye for detail, and have a strong ability to lead and mentor a team to deliver memorable culinary experiences. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day event bookings, managing catering meetings, assisting with budgeting and financial forecasting, contributing to marketing efforts aimed at increasing catering revenue, and maintaining compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety protocols.

Job Requirements

  • associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum 2 years management experience
  • minimum 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants fast food vending catering institutional services or mall food courts

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • work directly with university senior leadership offices including president and provost offices development and alumni relations finance and administration deans offices and zoellner arts center
  • manage day-to-day booking of all events ensuring sales team responds to customers promptly communicating event updates and changes to the team and managing catering event meetings for all departments
  • help lead the team with bookings details timelines flight plans etc for larger internal and external events across campus
  • assist with budgeting of events with customers and forecast events for financial reporting including upselling
  • assist with the execution of marketing plan to help increase catering revenue
  • oversee setup and presentation to maintain sodexo’s high standards of service and quality
  • train develop and mentor catering staff to deliver outstanding guest experiences
  • ensure compliance with food safety sanitation and workplace safety standards
