Hotel Nikko San Francisco is a prestigious luxury hotel situated just off Union Square in the bustling downtown area of San Francisco. The hotel offers a rich culinary experience through its five distinct food and beverage outlets, which include the 24-hour Room Service, ANZU Restaurant and Lounge, Kanpai Lounge, Imperial Lounge, and Feinstein's at the Nikko. We are seeking to hire an experienced Catering Sales Manager, who will work as an essential member of our catering and conference services team, reporting directly to the Director of Catering and Conference Services. This is an exempt position that carries the responsibility of developing and expanding the hotel’s catering business through direct sales solicitation and strategic relationship management. The Catering Sales Manager’s principal role is to secure new accounts,retain existing customers, and implement targeted sales strategies that maximize revenues from the hotel’s catering and food and beverage outlets. This role demands a proactive salesperson with excellent organizational skills and a strong customer service orientation.
The Catering Sales Manager will be instrumental in negotiating group room rates, meeting room rentals, and catering services within established guidelines. They will coordinate closely with other hotel departments to ensure the seamless execution of client functions, providing five-star service as the primary point of contact during events. The role involves frequent interaction with clients to arrange site inspections, off-site presentations, and to schedule special events. This position is critical in ensuring customer satisfaction and fostering long-term business relationships by following up with clients before, during, and after their events.
Beyond traditional sales duties, the Catering Sales Manager is expected to contribute to the development and implementation of sales action plans and assist in budgeting and planning processes. A solid understanding of hotel and food and beverage operations is preferred, along with strong communication abilities to engage effectively with clients and internal teams. The position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and the physical capacity to stand, move within the facility, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform tasks involving bending and stooping. Fluency in English is mandatory, with additional language skills considered an advantage.
