Job Description
Off the Grid, founded in San Francisco in 2010, is a pioneering mobile food innovator dedicated to transforming underutilized and temporary spaces into vibrant community gathering places. Renowned for revolutionizing the Bay Area street food scene, Off the Grid orchestrates over 60 public events a week, feeding more than 100,000 people. By connecting communities through public markets, corporate dining services, and catering options, the company not only enriches the culinary landscape but also boosts economic opportunities for local food entrepreneurs. Off the Grid additionally offers a variety of B2B services, including Off the Grid Catering, which is deeply integrated into the company’s model of community-minded food experiences.
The Catering Event Producer at Off the Grid is a full-time role based in San Francisco, with a combination of in-office days and event site presence required. This position plays a critical role in enhancing client and guest experiences by managing the planning and on-site execution of catering events across the Bay Area. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, the Event Producer collaborates closely with Account Executives to smoothly transition clients from initial contact to event completion. This role demands an individual who is charismatic, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with strong time-management skills and the ability to perform under pressure efficiently. The Event Producer is essential to maintaining excellent client relationships, contributing significantly to client retention, repeat event bookings, and overall company profitability.
As an integral stakeholder within multiple departments—including sales, operations, creative, and production—the Catering Event Producer oversees the entire lifecycle of sold projects, from conception to post-event wrap-up. Responsibilities include designing event layouts focused on aesthetic appeal, flow, and functionality, coordinating with vendors and in-house creators, managing budgets, drafts of production schedules, floor plans, and event logistics. The role involves negotiating vendor contracts and ensuring seamless event delivery on the day of the event. The Catering Event Producer also supports financial activities like budgeting and post-event reporting in coordination with the Accounting team.
This position demands excellent communication and hospitality skills to manage and exceed customer expectations, maintain strong client relationships, and handle any potential issues or complaints proactively. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering unique and innovative catering experiences that reflect Off the Grid’s values and brand reputation. Occasional travel and work during nights or weekends may be required to support operational needs and attend events. Off the Grid values diversity and inclusion, seeking team members who embrace these principles to contribute to a welcoming and enriching work environment.
