Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
- minimum five years experience as Director of Events, Catering, or similar position in a 4-star hotel or restaurant
- possession of valid Liquor Commission Manager’s Card
- ability to lift items up to 25 lbs
- ability to reach overhead
- ability to endure various physical movements throughout work areas
- ability to maintain stationary position for extended hours
- familiarity with hotel services, catering, and food service techniques
- strong multi-tasking ability
- excellent guest relations skills
- knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
- knowledge of sales and marketing tools
- strong mathematical and communication skills
- knowledge of health laws and safety codes
- ability to supervise large staff
- fluency in Japanese preferred
Job Qualifications

- preference for BS in Hospitality
- minimum five years experience as Director of Events or similar role at a 4-star hotel or restaurant
- fluency in Japanese preferred
- knowledge of hotel food and beverage operations and cost controls
- knowledge of catering services and food service techniques
- strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
- strong sales and marketing knowledge
- strong mathematical skills
- excellent written and verbal communication
- effective management and organizational skills
- knowledge of federal and state health laws and safety codes
- ability to work with various customers
- ability to supervise large staff in varied environments
Job Duties
- anticipates guests’ needs
- respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
- always maintains positive guest relations
- assist with resolving guest complaints
- familiarized with all hotel services and local attractions to respond to inquiries accurately
- develop and coordinate successful implementation of all special events and hotel social events
- coordinate with support departments to initiate all aspects of each event
- negotiate contracts with entertainment providers
- communicate with support departments for smooth event production
- drive sales revenue from soliciting and coordinating corporate events, weddings, receptions, and social celebrations
- facilitate meetings and tours of facilities with customers
- work cooperatively with F&B and Executive management to maintain service standards
- review guarantees and ensure estimate cost compliance
- maintain accurate records of client communications and BEOs
- develop action plans to exceed financial and service goals
- administer corrective actions to meet goals
- promote conference/event services by attending professional meetings
- develop networking opportunities and facilitate meetings with prospective clients
- review daily hotel activities including forecasts and events
- establish priorities and assign production to staff
- review status of business and bookings
- establish departmental policies and procedures
- direct financial operations and promotional material dissemination
- foster cooperative and safe working climate
- coordinate recruitment and conduct interviews
- establish individual goals and conduct staff evaluations
- attend all management meetings and training
- perform other duties as assigned
