Job Description
Smokey Bones is a well-established barbecue restaurant chain known for its vibrant atmosphere, mouth-watering smoked meats, and dedication to community engagement. As a popular casual dining destination, Smokey Bones emphasizes not only great food but also exceptional customer service and a strong connection with the local community. The company prides itself on being a gathering place where guests can enjoy quality meals in a welcoming environment, whether dining in-house or ordering catering for events. With a focus on operational excellence and community involvement, Smokey Bones continues to grow and innovate within the competitive restaurant landscape.
The role of Catering and Local Store Marketing Coordinator at Smokey Bones is a dynamic position that combines operational support with community-focused marketing efforts. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role plays a pivotal part in building and sustaining relationships between Smokey Bones and its local community. The primary goal is to act as the face of the brand by engaging prospective clients, promoting catering services, and driving sales through various marketing initiatives and events.
This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $14 to $17 plus gratuity, alongside mileage reimbursement to cover transportation costs. The successful candidate will manage a variety of tasks including organizing, delivering, setting up, and serving catering orders for clients. Additionally, they will support local store marketing efforts such as tele-sales, canvassing, community event participation, and partnership building with local businesses and nonprofits.
Daily responsibilities include coordinating with the Catering Sales Manager and restaurant managers to ensure catering orders are executed smoothly and on time. Packing food accurately and supporting the kitchen staff to prepare orders promptly is essential, as is the logistical task of routing drivers and managing third-party delivery services like Door Dash. The role demands excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
The community and marketing aspect of the job requires attending local events, setting up promotional activities, educating local businesses about Smokey Bones’ brand and offerings, and establishing mutually beneficial partnerships. Organizing give-back nights with schools, nonprofits, and other community organizations helps drive goodwill and customer loyalty. The candidate will also utilize internal marketing platforms and tools to create engaging local social media posts, emails, and printed materials, ensuring alignment with Smokey Bones' core values and marketing goals.
Essential behaviors for this role include being a proactive self-starter with the capability to manage projects effectively. The candidate must communicate regularly with field partners, managers, and the Director of Operations to coordinate staffing, event schedules, and big order preparation. Independence, reliability, and a willingness to work overtime as necessary are key traits. Physical demands of the job include frequent standing, walking, handling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and the ability to drive and maintain a vehicle for job-related activities. A valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a dependable vehicle are mandatory, as well as a commitment to safety and professionalism.
Overall, this position at Smokey Bones provides a unique blend of operational, marketing, and community engagement responsibilities, offering an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about the hospitality industry and local business development.
