The role of Center-of-the-Plate (COP) Sales Representative at Cheney Brothers is integral to the company’s mission of delivering high-quality food products at competitive prices. This position focuses on promoting sales within the center-of-the-plate category, which includes essential protein products pivotal to foodservice operations. A key responsibility of the COP Sales Representative is to collaborate with vendors to secure the lowest possible costs for quality products. This requires a strong understanding of market trends, price fluctuations, and supply chain dynamics. The individual in this role may also be tasked with procurement decisions, leveraging purchasing power based on tonnage across individual or grouped operating companies (OpCos). Beyond procurement, this position supports the sales team by providing product education, training, and demonstrations, ensuring that both internal teams and customers possess a deep understanding of COP products. The COP Sales Representative works collaboratively within the department and across different functions, contributing to the company’s overall success. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience in sales/marketing, business, or related area within foodservice industry

- bachelors degree in sales/marketing, business or related area preferred
- 2-4 years of experience in sales/marketing, business, or related area within foodservice industry preferred
Job Duties
- obtain optimum cost of goods sold by leveraging purchasing based on tonnage
- building relationships with suppliers, sales, OpCo staff, and customers
- support sales by providing education, training and demonstration of COP items, as necessary
- communicate negotiated deals broadly to take full advantage
- negotiate pricing and purchasing deals with vendors/suppliers
- performs other related duties as assigned
