The Food and Beverage Department at the Kalispel Tribe plays an essential role in delivering a superior guest experience, operating with meticulous attention to quality, service standards, and regulatory compliance. This department is responsible for food service operations that include restaurants, bars, banquet facilities, and catering services. The position available is that of a Food and Beverage Supervisor who will direct and coordinate departmental activities, ensuring compliance with Tribal and governmental regulations, and delivering exceptional guest service. This role requires overseeing daily food and beverage operations, managing team member schedules, and ensuring inventory control and cost management. The Supervisor also acts as a Banquet Captain, handling banquet functions and assisting with menu development alongside the Food and Beverage Manager and culinary staff. Leadership and team development are key aspects of this position, with responsibilities including hiring, training, coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations of team members to maintain a motivated and efficient workforce. The Supervisor is expected to collaborate closely with marketing teams to promote food and beverage sales, address guest relations issues, and enforce safety and sanitation standards including HACCP protocols. Skills in Microsoft applications, point-of-sale systems, report preparation, and problem-solving are necessary to succeed. The role demands a hands-on leader who can maintain operational budgets, labor costs, and quality standards while cultivating an environment of continuous improvement. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to perform tasks involving sustained standing, walking, and verbal communication. Shift flexibility is essential, as the position requires availability on nights, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Work Permit
  • Valid driver’s license with possession while operating Tribal Vehicle
  • Washington State Food Handler Permit within 14 days of start date
  • Hepatitis A vaccination by date of hire
  • MAST (Washington State Liquor Control Board Permit) within 90 days of employment or first class offered
  • Available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Constant verbal communication and detailed instruction exchange
  • Ability to perform repetitive wrist, hand, finger movements
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit for sustained periods
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs or ramps
  • Ability to stoop and occasionally crouch
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color vision and focus adjustment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prefer four years of experience in full-service restaurant or bar operations
  • Experience in liquor, beer, and wine management helpful
  • Knowledge of inventory systems and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs and computer software
  • Ability to write procedures, reports, correspondence, and instructions
  • Ability to analyze and solve management and administrative problems
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders
  • Basic knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to calculate and monitor cost of goods
  • Ability to read and analyze spreadsheets, reports, financial statements, and food specifications
  • Skills in assessing operations, programs, staffing, and physical needs

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with Kalispel Tribe of Indians and Washington State regulations
  • Oversee Food and Beverage activities including banquet functions
  • Write and monitor weekly work schedules and post them 10 days in advance
  • Develop departmental objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor inventories and cost percentages of goods, supplies, and equipment
  • Participate in menu creation and development with Food and Beverage Manager and chefs
  • Promote Food and Beverage activities with marketing department
  • Handle guest relations and resolve team member issues
  • Enforce sanitation practices and HACCP standards
  • Assist in maintaining team member work permits, health cards, and certifications
  • Attend mandatory Food and Beverage management meetings
  • Analyze labor cost and operational expenses related to budget goals
  • Hire, train, coach, and counsel team members
  • Administer disciplinary actions according to policies
  • Ensure regular team training meetings
  • Monitor and adjust staffing levels according to budget
  • Participate in internal review hearings as needed
  • Maintain high standards of guest satisfaction and team member relations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
