Job Description
Torchy’s Tacos is a beloved restaurant brand that originated in Austin, Texas in 2006. It all started with a simple idea, a dedicated executive chef, and a humble food trailer. Since then, Torchy’s has grown exponentially and now operates restaurants nationwide. Known for its unique and flavorful tacos, Torchy’s prides itself on providing a memorable dining experience that combines great food with warm hospitality and a fun, vibrant atmosphere. The company has a strong commitment to quality and community, continually innovating its menu and service to meet the needs of its diverse customer base. Torchy’s operates as a fast-casual restaurant chain that delivers high-quality, creative Tex-Mex cuisine that appeals to a wide range of guests, making it a fast-growing and well-recognized brand in the restaurant industry.
The Cashier/Runner role at Torchy’s is essential to the restaurant’s successful operation and guest satisfaction. As a member of the Hospitality Team, this position goes beyond simply taking orders or running food to tables; it serves as the heartbeat of the guests’ experience. Cashiers and Runners greet guests warmly, help them navigate the menu by offering insightful suggestions, and ensure that each order is handled quickly and accurately. This role requires a friendly and outgoing personality to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat visits. Additionally, this position supports the overall dining experience by running food promptly to tables, offering refills on chips and drinks, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the guest-facing spaces of the restaurant. Teamwork is crucial as it involves collaborating with managers, kitchen staff, and other team members to provide seamless service that delights customers.
This role also emphasizes active listening and excellent communication skills. Cashier/Runners are expected to listen attentively to guest preferences and questions, adapting quickly to busy periods and any unexpected challenges while paying attention to detail to ensure orders are correct. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary, and team members must obtain and maintain the required state and local food handler and alcohol server certifications as mandated. Compensation for this role in Boulder starts at $16.82 per hour, with additional tip share on top of the hourly wage. Benefits include flexible scheduling, discounted food for team members and their spouse, access to medical, dental, and vision insurance after one year of full-time employment, 401(k) after six months, paid time off after one year, and support through the Torchy’s Family Foundation during times of need. In summary, the Cashier/Runner at Torchy’s is a vital role that combines excellent guest service with operational support to uphold the brand’s reputation for creating outstanding dining experiences.
