The role of the Restaurant Host at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is pivotal in creating memorable dining experiences for guests. Reporting directly to the Restaurant/Bar Manager or Supervisor on duty, the Restaurant Host acts as the ambassador of the restaurant’s image through impeccable manners and diplomatic interaction with guests and colleagues alike. Job Duties

  • Greets guests upon arrival according to IHG standards
  • Answers telephone communications and takes reservations
  • Offers cigars, cigarettes, and after dinner-mints
  • Attends to special guests requests
  • Ensures personal grooming and uniform meet required standards
  • Promotes restaurant image with impeccable manners, diplomacy, and tact
  • Complies with hotel health, safety, and hygiene policy
  • Reports questions and issues to Supervisor or Manager on duty
  • Follows cash handling and bill presentation procedures
  • Attends pre-meal briefing sessions
  • Prepares and presents bills
  • Checks OpenTable system functionality before lunch and dinner service
  • Ensures menus are clean and checked
  • Greets guests warmly in the appropriate entrance area
  • Displays appropriate napkin color during dinner service and introduces waiter
  • Assists guests with chairs
  • Presents open menu and clean wine list to tables
  • Presents breakfast menu and promotes buffet during breakfast service
  • Wishes guests a pleasant meal
  • Offers parting comments as guests exit
  • Obtains at least three guest satisfaction surveys per day
  • Adheres to workplace health and safety requirements
  • Performs other duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned
