The role of a Convenience Store Customer Service Representative (Cashier) is essential in our day-to-day operations. This position involves operating the cash register and Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to handle cash and credit transactions accurately, ensuring a smooth checkout experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for greeting customers warmly, managing customer lines promptly, and upholding our Customer Service Agreement through positive interactions. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining knowledge of our products, services, and loyalty programs to assist customers effectively. Additionally, the representative is expected to adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local regulations, particularly concerning the sale of age-restricted products, demonstrating integrity and compliance.

Beyond transactional duties, the Customer Service Representative will actively promote company programs and contribute to achieving sales and merchandising goals. Daily tasks include assisting with stock level maintenance, proper dating and rotation of food products, and reporting any equipment issues to management to ensure operational readiness. This role also involves participating in ongoing training programs, obtaining necessary certifications such as UST Class C and EBT Training, and potentially supporting the training of new associates.

Job Duties

  • Provides positive, personalized customer service by greeting each customer in a friendly manner per our Customer Service Agreement
  • runs a Point of Sale (POS) system and monitors customer lines in order to expedite the sales process
  • maintains knowledge of products, services, and Loyalty program offered by the Company and knows how to complete associated transactions
  • adheres to federal, state and local regulations and prohibits the sale of age restricted products to individuals under the minimum age requirement
  • takes an active role in promoting programs introduced by the Company
  • ensures established standards are adhered to
  • listens and responds to customer requests and follows Customer Service Agreement guidelines
  • forwards customer complaints, issues and all information to Management as needed
  • completes Daily Task list items assigned by Manager
  • helps ensure equipment is operating correctly and communicates to Management when maintenance is needed or issues arise
  • learns and follows applicable policies and procedures including, but not limited to, grooming, cleanliness, uniform policy, eating, drinking and smoking policy and overall professional appearance, as is outlined in the Company Handbook
  • UST Class C Certified

  • follows and complies with all health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices
  • helps ensure proper stock levels, dating and rotation of all food products and supplies
  • attends Company required training programs
  • assists in training fellow store associates on existing and new training programs as needed
  • provides suggestions for and actively participates in improving sales, margins and execution of merchandising and marketing programs
  • completes other duties as assigned by Management
