It serves as a vital educational institution in the Kansas City metropolitan area, fostering a supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff alike. KCKCC values inclusivity, equal opportunity, and continuous improvement, making it a respected institution dedicated to enhancing the lives of those it serves.
The Food Services department at KCKCC is currently seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join their team in the multifaceted role encompassing Cashier, Cook, Utility, Catering, and Barista responsibilities. This role is ideal for someone passionate about food preparation, customer service, and maintaining a well-organized, hygienic kitchen environment. The position demands versatility, as the successful candidate will be cross-trained to handle various duties that ensure smooth food service operations throughout the college campus.
The work schedule for this role is flexible, primarily Monday through Friday with some Saturdays as assigned, aligning with campus events and the academic calendar. Shifts generally fall between 7 am and 6 pm, offering varying hours designed to accommodate the dynamic nature of campus food service needs. This flexibility makes the position suitable for individuals seeking part-time employment and those who appreciate a varied work routine.
Key responsibilities include preparing and cooking a diverse range of meals according to established menus, adhering strictly to health and safety standards. The candidate will be required to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, slicers, and fryers proficiently and maintain food inventory levels, assisting with ordering supplies as necessary. Outstanding service is expected to students, faculty, staff, and guests, ensuring that dining experiences are pleasant and efficient.
Additionally, the role involves set up and clean up of workstations and dining areas, emphasizing hygiene and organization. Collaboration with fellow kitchen staff during peak hours is crucial to maintaining timely service and meeting the needs of the campus community. Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation procedures is essential to guarantee compliance with regulatory guidelines and to promote a safe dining environment.
Candidates interested in this position should have at least one year of experience in food service, demonstrating the ability to multitask and perform under pressure. Physical endurance is also necessary, as the job requires standing for long periods and lifting items up to 50 pounds. The position represents an excellent opportunity to join a community-oriented institution with a dedicated team and gain valuable experience in food service within an educational setting.
KCKCC offers competitive benefits including retirement plans, holiday pay at double time for Christmas Eve and Day, and comprehensive part-time and full-time benefit packages covering dental, vision, accident, cancer coverage, and 401k plans. Consistent with its commitment to diversity and inclusion, KCKCC ensures equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status, fostering a workplace environment that values respect and equality.
