This role is designed to support Whole Foods Market's Customer Service & E-Commerce team by providing exceptional service to customers during the check-out process, handling all cash register functions, bagging groceries efficiently, and assisting at the customer service desk. The Customer Service & E-Commerce Team Member carries out a variety of tasks that ensure smooth and efficient store operations. Responsibilities include accurately checking out groceries, handling transactions including checks, credit, and ATM procedures, and abiding by government regulations concerning alcohol sales and taxation. Team Members also assist in maintaining clean and attractive front-end areas, support customer flow during busy periods, and participate in training new team members. A strong emphasis is placed on promoting Whole Foods Market’s initiatives, providing excellent customer service, and fostering an environment that highlights professionalism, respect, and teamwork.
This position is entry-level and does not require prior retail experience, making it ideal for candidates who demonstrate strong work ethic, basic math skills, effective communication, and a passion for the company’s mission. Physical requirements include the capacity to lift up to 50 pounds, work on foot for extended periods, and operate equipment such as box cutters and pallet jacks. Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
- Hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to work in wet and cold environments
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to use tools and equipment including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- May require use of ladders

Job Duties
- Checks out customer groceries efficiently and accurately
- Upholds government regulations concerning sale of alcoholic beverages and taxation
- Follows proper check, ATM, and credit procedures
- Uses proper tares procedures when ringing up scalable items
- Cleans and stocks Front End areas, including own register – changing tapes and ribbon as necessary
- Follows all cash handling procedures – meeting and exceeding regional cashier variance policy
- May assist with training of new Cashier and Cashier Assistant Team Members
