Job Requirements
- High school education preferred
- Successful completion of apprenticeship or training program or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra in sales transactions
- Ability to complete reports accurately including daily sales and cash reconciliation
- Ability to hear, speak and understand spoken word effectively
- Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret English with proficiency
- Physical ability to sit, stand, use hands, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to climb ladders and perform cleaning tasks
- Capability to work in refrigerated and heated environments
- Ability to tolerate dust, chemical fumes, and allergens
- Sufficient memory retention for weekly ad prices and daily specials
Job Qualifications
- High school education preferred
- Successful completion of apprenticeship or training program or equivalent education and experience
- Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra for sales transactions
- Capacity to accurately complete reports such as sales, inventory, and cash reconciliation
- Strong communication skills including hearing, speaking, and understanding instructions and verbal requests
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting English language documents and company policies
Job Duties
- Greet all customers and provide prompt and courteous service or assistance
- Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
- Maintain responsibility of cash drawer contents at the start and end of the work shift
- Ensure cashier accountability including till over/shorts
- Efficiently and accurately scan or record customer purchases
- Recognize and differentiate between various types of produce merchandise
- Assist customers with bulk products
- Collect money and tender accurate change in accordance with company policies
- Process various sales transactions including Accounts Receivable, EFT, WIC Coupons, Food Stamps, and coupons
- Bag or package merchandise according to company procedures
- Handle damaged or spoiled products and perform restocking
- Ring all sales into cash register following company cash handling procedures
- Verify customer IDs and follow policies on checks and alcohol sales
- Report any cash discrepancies exceeding $5 promptly to management
- Record price discrepancies and request price checks
- Maintain store cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Keep checkout, sales and storage areas clean and orderly
- Use and maintain equipment properly and report malfunctions
- Follow company policy on excessive cash and perform cash pickups
- Observe security standards and report suspicious behavior
- Secure register when unattended
- Notify management of personnel issues or policy violations
- Perform other assigned work-related duties
