Job Description

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. is a premier specialty retailer founded in 1956, known for offering high-quality, stylish, and functional products for the kitchen and home throughout the United States. The company operates a diverse family of respected brands including Williams Sonoma, Williams Sonoma Home, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Pottery Barn Teen, Rejuvenation, West Elm, Mark & Graham, Outward, and GreenRow. These brands provide beautifully designed solutions for various home areas such as the kitchen, living room, bedroom, home office, closet, laundry room, and outdoor spaces. Over the decades since opening its first brick-and-mortar store, Williams-Sonoma has maintained a strong passion for exceptional product quality, functional design, customer service excellence, and community enrichment. The company is a multi-brand, multi-channel global enterprise supported by advanced technology and talented retail teams, continually seeking fresh energy and innovative ideas to evolve its retail presence. The role at Williams-Sonoma focuses on delivering an outstanding retail customer experience centered on people-first values, quality, and integrity. This position primarily involves front-line interaction with customers, engaging them at the cash wrap area to provide personal and efficient service. The role requires maintaining an upbeat store energy to ensure a lively atmosphere for both customers and team members. Responsibilities include accurately handling register and point-of-sale transactions such as sales, returns, and exchanges while maintaining precise pricing and SKU information. The role also entails managing customer expectations through clear communication about products, care, maintenance, timeframes, and delivery. A key part of the job is to affirm purchases and offer complementary merchandise suggestions, promote current sales and promotions, and share information about product offerings, in-store events, and workshops that enrich the customer experience. This position thrives in an entrepreneurial environment that encourages outside-the-box thinking and fosters lasting customer relationships by capturing contacts and promoting the full range of Williams-Sonoma’s inspiration, events, services, and product launches. Success in this role comes from keen customer insight, asking the right questions to understand personal style and needs, and working effectively both independently and as part of a team. Candidates are expected to have a high school diploma or equivalent, 1-2 years of experience in customer service, and proven multitasking abilities. Physical demands include the ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended durations and the capability to lift and move medium to large items, up to 75 pounds, safely using appropriate techniques. Williams-Sonoma values diversity, equity, and inclusion, recognizing these principles as vital drivers of innovation, healthy teams, and exceptional customer experiences. The company is committed to fostering a global culture where individuals can bring their authentic selves to work and advance based solely on their contributions and leadership abilities. The environment promotes dignity, respect, and fairness aligned with the company’s people-first philosophy. Williams-Sonoma offers a range of attractive benefits depending on position and location, including generous discounts across its brands, a 401(k) plan with investment opportunities, wellness programs supporting physical, financial, and emotional health, paid vacations and holidays for full-time associates, and comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance including same-sex domestic partner benefits. The company operates as an equal opportunity employer and adheres to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and related laws, considering qualified applicants with criminal histories. Employment at Williams-Sonoma includes full-time roles requiring open availability and part-time flex roles offering a minimum of 15 hours per week with specified weekend and weekday shifts. The company does not sponsor immigration for this position or offer relocation assistance at this time.
