While the store operates under the trusted Ace Hardware brand, all employment policies and practices are determined solely by Floyd's Hardware Inc. The role we are hiring for is that of a Cashier, a vital position within the store's operational framework.

The Cashier at Floyd's Hardware Inc. is responsible for handling register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise. This role is crucial as it directly impacts customer satisfaction and the overall shopping experience. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly, assisting them throughout their shopping visit, and ensuring checkout lines move quickly and efficiently. The Cashier is expected to maintain a friendly and outgoing demeanor, work well within a team environment, and possess a solid knowledge of the store’s products and layout to better assist customers. The role demands attention to detail, especially in processing transactions correctly and balancing the cash register drawer at the end of shifts.

In addition to customer-facing duties, the Cashier also supports various store operations like pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging merchandise. Maintaining the front end's appearance is also a critical component of this role; keeping checkout areas neat, assisting with impulse counters, and ensuring advertising materials and supplies are well-stocked. The position involves some physical activity including standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and climbing, which contributes to the dynamic nature of the job.

This role requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and while cashier experience is preferred, candidates with strong customer service skills will also be considered. The Cashier participates in store and cashier meetings, adheres strictly to all cash register transaction procedures, and helps implement any store promotions.
