The role of a Cashier at JCPenney centers on delivering exceptional customer service and enhancing the overall sales experience. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for maintaining checkout standards, managing point-of-sale transactions, and supporting general store operations such as Omnichannel initiatives, stock recovery, and inventory management. You will play a vital part in upholding the company’s performance standards, particularly in areas concerning shrink control, safety, and adherence to company policies. This position entails proactive engagement with customers to facilitate credit, rewards, and gift card programs and promote ongoing sales incentives like the Findmore program.

In addition to transaction handling, Cashiers assist with merchandising tasks at the checkout area, stock impulse purchase fixtures, and help maintain a welcoming and efficient shopping environment by supporting other store operations such as fitting room maintenance and annual inventory processes. Job Duties

  • Greet and assist customers while providing excellent customer service
  • Complete checkout processes including returns and re-ticketing
  • Assist with signing and merchandising standards at checkouts while stocking and merchandising impulse fixtures
  • Support Omnichannel efforts as needed
  • Participate in recovery, put backs, and fitting room maintenance
  • Participate in annual inventory processes
  • Support company shrink and safety initiatives and meet established performance standards
