Job Duties

  • Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated to increase customer confidence and loyalty
  • Listens to and appropriately escalates customer concerns to management with a positive attitude
  • Stocks front end products and uses supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and maintain the lowest supply cost
  • Manages lane according to service standards
  • Assists in training new cashiers
  • Uses the Point of Sale (POS) system and handles various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, reward offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy to record sales
  • Understands and adheres to company limits on cash shortages and overages and works honestly to control loss
  • Adheres to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, etc.)
  • Assists customers in unloading purchases onto the conveyor belt
  • Packs customer purchases to prevent damages, carries or pushes groceries to customer’s car and loads groceries into the vehicle
  • Checks prices of merchandise in all departments as needed
  • Collects shopping carts from parking lot and other areas and returns them to designated area
  • Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling, sanitation and productivity are maintained
  • Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA, COOL, and DOA
  • Executes all product recalls and withdrawals timely, ensuring secured removal
  • Reinforces safety programs by complying with procedures and inspects for unsafe conditions to report to management
  • Notifies management of customer or employee accidents
  • Reports all safety risks, illegal activities including robbery, theft or fraud
  • Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies and cultivates a culture of safety
  • Ensures that all associates have received necessary safety training and uses personal protective equipment
  • Ensures equipment is in good repair and assists remediation of safety hazards
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
