Job Description
Torchy’s Tacos is a renowned restaurant brand that originated in Austin, Texas in 2006. What began as a humble food trailer under the guidance of a dedicated executive chef has blossomed into over 130 restaurants nationwide, making it a beloved destination for those craving bold and delicious food. The company prides itself on a vibrant culture driven by its clear purpose: igniting originality. Torchy’s vision is to be the top choice for anyone who desires exceptional food and wishes to express their authentic spirit. This vision is supported by its mission to cultivate passionate people who craft craveable food and foster welcoming vibes, highlighting the importance of attention to detail in every aspect of the customer experience.
At Torchy’s, the role of Cashier/Runner is central to creating memorable experiences for each guest. This position is not just about taking orders and delivering food – it embodies the heart of the hospitality experience. As a Cashier/Runner, you become the face of the brand, greeting every guest warmly and working to ensure that everyone leaves feeling happier than when they arrived. The role requires exceptional communication skills and a friendly demeanor, fostering an inviting atmosphere where guests feel truly valued.
The job involves managing point-of-sale activities including accurately processing transactions and understanding guest needs to offer tailored menu recommendations. Mastery of the menu is crucial to not only assist with guest queries but also to provide personalized suggestions that cater to different dietary preferences. Additionally, the runner aspect of the role entails the timely and correct delivery of food orders to tables, ensuring guests enjoy their meals as intended. This also includes proactively attending to guest needs by offering refills and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant’s guest-facing areas.
Collaboration is a key component of the Cashier/Runner’s responsibilities, requiring seamless coordination with managers, kitchen staff, and the broader hospitality team to resolve issues and maintain smooth service even during busy periods. The role demands adaptability to rapidly changing scenarios, whether managing a sudden influx of customers or addressing unexpected challenges. Attention to detail, from taking precise orders to responding to specific guest needs, is what sets a great Cashier/Runner apart.
This position offers a wage of $11.00 per hour, with the added benefit of tip sharing on top of the base pay. Flexible scheduling ensures that team members can balance work and personal life effectively. New employees will benefit from immediate access to tools like DailyPay, a program that ensures timely payment without delay. The casual dress code and provision of company swag make for a fun and relaxed work environment, while opportunities for growth mean this job can be the first step toward a rewarding career within the organization.
Full-time team members gain access to comprehensive benefits after one year, including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as participation in a 401(k) plan after six months. The company also supports employee wellness through its Damn Good Well-being Program that provides free access to financial wellness resources. Paid time off is available after one year of employment, and the Torchy’s Family Foundation offers additional support to team members during times of need. Beyond tangible benefits, the job is infused with a culture that recognizes and celebrates employee contributions, offering pride and bragging rights in being part of a distinctive and successful brand.
