Job Requirements
- Excellent customer service skills are a must for this position
- must be at least 16 years of age or older
- ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service or retail is preferred but not required
- basic math skills and the ability to handle cash and electronic payments accurately
- strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with customers
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- attention to detail and ability to follow store policies and procedures
- ability to stand for long periods and lift or carry light to moderate loads
Job Duties
- Accurately scan and ring up customer items in a timely manner
- handle customer payments, including cash, credit, and debit transactions, and provide correct change when necessary
- process returns, exchanges, and gift card transactions in accordance with store policies
- offer assistance to customers by answering questions, providing store information, and resolving any concerns
- bag groceries in a way that protects items and makes them easy for customers to carry
- maintain a clean and organized checkout counter, including ensuring that all items are neatly arranged
- follow store policies for the sale of age-restricted items, such as alcohol or tobacco
- keep track of the register drawer, ensuring it is balanced at the beginning and end of each shift
- alert management to any register discrepancies or customer service issues that require attention
- maintain a positive and friendly attitude while interacting with customers and team members
- follow all safety protocols and store policies to ensure a safe working environment
- assist with other tasks as needed, such as restocking shelves or helping customers find products
