Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
- Basic math skills required
- Ability to operate cash register and related equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
- Availability to work flexible hours
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- Ability to count, add, subtract, copy, and record figures
- Skill in operating machines typical in retail such as cash register, credit card machine, and gas pump console
- Written communication skill to fill out routine forms and records
- Oral communication skill to exchange information courteously and professionally
- Interpersonal communication skill to work effectively with others
- Ability to read and understand written instructions, memos, and manuals
- Ability to follow step-by-step instructions, standard procedures, and operating guidelines
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
- Ability to concentrate on tasks despite distractions
- Ability to identify routine problems and situations requiring decisions
- Ability to provide high level customer service
Job Duties
- Accurately operate cash register and monitor gas console
- Follow all cash handling procedures involving cash, credit cards, checks, lottery, and drops
- Properly and accurately account for all sales transactions
- Maintain accurate inventory through correct pricing
- Keep store clean, always stocked and in first class condition
- Maintain high cleaning standards including parking lot, restrooms, stockroom, and equipment
- Clean all spills to remove safety hazards
- Acknowledge all customers and provide the highest level of customer service including greeting, suggestive selling, and thanks
- Assist customers in locating items in the store
- Comply with suggestive selling program
- Build displays to promote customer awareness of sale items and generate additional sales
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
