In this role, the cashier is integral to the smooth functioning of retail operations within the ferry terminals or associated retail locations. The primary responsibility is to manage monetary transactions efficiently by operating cash registers or point-of-sale (POS) systems, handling payments via cash, check, or credit, and ensuring customers receive accurate change and receipts. Beyond transaction processing, the cashier supports daily retail activities including setup, stock maintenance, assisting with cleanup, and closing procedures, adapting to the needs of varied accounts. Physical stamina is a necessity, as the role involves significant mobility, including walking or standing for entire shifts that may extend beyond eight hours, and frequently lifting up to 35 pounds, sometimes up to 50.

The individual must consistently provide attentive, courteous service, securing customer satisfaction and safeguarding cash assets at all times. Additional responsibilities may be adjusted based on client and location-specific business requirements, calling for a flexible, proactive approach. Where applicable, compliance with local alcohol service regulations—including valid certifications such as TIPS or TEAM—is mandatory for locations that serve alcohol.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- 0 to 1 year related experience
- Must be at or over the minimum age to serve alcohol if alcohol is served at the location
- Valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification if required by location
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
- Ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- 0 to 1 year of related experience
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Basic math skills for cash handling
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Compliance with local alcohol service regulations if applicable, including valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent certification
- Strong communication skills
- Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods and lift weights up to 50 pounds
Job Duties
- Operates a cash register or point-of-sale system, receives payments of cash, checks, and charges from customers or employees, makes change and issues receipts or tickets to customers
- Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times
- Maintains proper security of cash at all times
- Performs significant walking or other means of mobility throughout the shift
- Stands or walks for extended periods exceeding 8 hours as required
- Reaches, bends, stoops, pushes or pulls, and frequently lifts up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Attends work and shows for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
- Performs other duties as assigned which may differ among accounts based on business necessity and client requirements
