Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure accuracy and adequate change
- Greet customers entering the store
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas
- Tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners
- Resolve customer complaints
- Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures or policies
- Cash checks for customers
- Weigh items sold by weight to determine prices
- Calculate total payments and reconcile with sales
- Compute and record totals of transactions
- Sell tickets and other items to customers
- Bag, box, wrap, or gift-wrap merchandise
- Process merchandise returns and exchanges
- Request assistance using paging systems
- Stock shelves and mark prices
- Compile and maintain reports and records
- Monitor checkout stations for cash availability and staffing
- Offer customers carry-out service
- Observe assigned shift hours
- Abide by all regulatory requirements
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service
- Perform tasks assigned by store management
- Notify management of cash discrepancies
- Operate shift according to company guidelines
- Record shift hours and sales accurately
- Accurately record markups, markdowns, spoilage, and store use
- Prepare shift-checkout reports
- Advise management of personnel or policy issues
- Follow safe cash handling policies
- Complete vendor check-in procedures
- Perform cleaning duties including windows, floors, shelves, and trash removal
- Maintain clean parking lot and store surroundings
- Other job-related tasks as required
