The role of a cashier at McCoy's is vital in ensuring smooth, efficient transactions and positive customer interactions. The cashier will be the first point of contact for customers entering the store and must create a welcoming atmosphere. This role also involves maintaining an organized and neat work area, including managing customer transaction tickets. Balancing the cash register and sales figures at the start and end of each shift is a critical responsibility to ensure all funds are accounted for. Cashiers will process returns and exchanges according to the store's policies, helping resolve customer complaints effectively and escalating issues to management when needed. Additional duties include assisting with product stocking and restocking, arranging products on shelves, and supporting store housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
Participation in store meetings and training sessions is required to keep up to date with company policies and enhance job performance. This position requires physical stamina as the cashier may need to stand for prolonged periods, lift items up to 30 pounds frequently, and occasionally lift or move items up to 80 pounds. The ability to perform repetitive movements over extended periods is also necessary. Furthermore, availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays is expected to meet the store's operational needs.
