The Retail Sales Associate position at Goodwill-West Texas is a dynamic and essential role responsible for delivering exceptional service to every customer while ensuring operational excellence on the sales floor. This role involves a blend of customer engagement, merchandising, cash handling, and store maintenance tasks that directly contribute to the positive image and financial success of the store. The ideal candidate will have a customer-focused mindset and the ability to accurately and efficiently complete sales transactions, including managing discounts, tax exemptions, and cash donations. They must be comfortable operating point-of-sale technology such as cash registers and scanners and demonstrate strong organizational skills to assist with stock receiving, merchandise replenishment, and floor moves.
Beyond transactional duties, the Retail Sales Associate will actively support loss prevention measures by adhering to company security protocols and maintaining accurate cash drawer balances on a daily basis. The candidate will also contribute to maintaining store appearance through housekeeping and presentation duties, ensuring that signage, pricing, and displays align with Goodwill-West Texas standards. Physical stamina is important for this position, as it requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, and safely handling merchandise throughout the workday. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as the role demands the ability to work varied hours and days based on business needs.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to read and write

- Ability to accurately operate and balance cash register

Job Duties
- Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by promoting a customer friendly environment
- Greet, acknowledge and express genuine concern for customers and their needs
- Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions including discounts, tax exemptions, voids, cash donations, etc
- Understand Goodwill Mission programs and follow the “round up” scripting to support the Mission
- Maintain security protocol regarding passwords and money handling
- Accurately balance cash drawer, complete daily sales and deposit documentation
- Maintain knowledge of products, placement and pricing
- Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance and store housekeeping
- Assist in receiving and monitoring stock and processing and replenishing merchandise as necessary
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and practices including signage, pricing and loss prevention
- Must be able to perform all aspects of donation process, including receiving donations
- Communicate appropriately and positively with co-workers and others
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
