We are currently seeking a motivated and friendly Cashier to join our team on a non-exempt, hourly basis with a competitive wage of $16.90 per hour. The Cashier role is pivotal to our store's customer service strategy and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will utilize cash registers and related equipment to conduct monetary transactions with customers accurately and efficiently. Beyond handling purchases, the Cashier promotes a positive shopping experience by greeting customers warmly, assisting with product inquiries, resolving price discrepancies, and maintaining a clean and orderly checkout area. Responsibilities also include bagging and wrapping purchased items, stocking merchandise, and understanding ticket rotations to ensure proper inventory and sales practices.

This role requires excellent customer service and communication skills, proficiency in operating equipment such as electronic cash registers, calculators, and scanners, as well as basic mathematical aptitude for handling transactions including change and refunds. The Cashier contributes to the store's success by ensuring accurate transactions and helping maintain a neat and organized environment. This position also demands physical stamina as it involves prolonged periods of standing, lifting items up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive motions. Flexibility in work schedules is necessary, including the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.

Candidates must demonstrate punctuality, a good understanding of company policies regarding customers, and a commitment to our mission and standards. There is a 90-day introductory period for this position during which performance and suitability will be closely monitored. Compliance with safety and hygiene standards, including the use of assigned personal protective equipment like gloves, is mandatory.
