The Retail Crew Member position at G&M is a full-time, hourly role reporting directly to the Store Manager. This position plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the store by delivering outstanding customer service aligned with G&M corporate standards and management instructions. The role requires someone who can adeptly balance multitasking with providing a friendly and professional shopping experience. The employee will be responsible for managing point-of-sale transactions, ensuring sales accuracy, and handling money with precision. In addition to transaction duties, the Retail Crew Member participates in stock replenishment, cleanliness, and safety efforts within the store, ensuring a hygienic and orderly environment.
This position also involves preparing and managing hot food items, monitoring product freshness, and practicing suggestive selling techniques to boost sales and build customer relations. Adherence to all applicable laws, especially those related to alcohol, tobacco, and lottery sales, is imperative. Employees must maintain a neat appearance, wear the company uniform, and uphold G&M’s standards of professionalism throughout their shift.

Job Duties
- Take measures to preserve the safety of employees and all others in the work location
- operate POS cash register and fuel console precisely and accurately manage money and other types of payment received for product sold
- enter all transactions into the register, accept payments and account for all funds, conduct sales transactions accurately and quickly
- perform service transactions in accordance with company policy including credit card transactions, manufacturer coupon redemption, vendor check-in, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales, and fast-food sales
- check identification for alcohol, tobacco, and lottery products according to company policy
- actively participate in all sales promotions and other campaigns
- practice suggestive selling and build customer relations, be aware of sales goals and performance against those goals
- review and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal laws affecting store operations
- always maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform and name tag
- prepare hot food items as designated by Store Manager including brewing coffee, maintaining condiment bar, monitoring fresh food availability
- ensure store is free of litter and spills and equipment is sanitized and operational
- sweep floors and spot mop as well as clean mop water as needed and before changing shifts
- wipe down Fuel Delivery area and pumps, change outside water/trash when needed
- ensure restroom is spot checked often and restocked
- perform regular cleaning of counter surfaces, store equipment, trash inside and out, floors and all other duties as assigned
- front face cooler and Hydrazone cleaning as well as dust merchandise
- clean all station windows, straighten and organize backroom supplies and equipment
- receive and stock merchandise following proper lift techniques
- restock shelves to avoid sparse displays
- conduct daily inspections of perishable products for freshness and proper rotation
- follow company policy on robbery, violence prevention and safety
- participate in team-building and customer service activities
- act as backup cashier during Barista shift including handling transactions and money
- brew fresh coffee every two hours, monitor condiment bar, and ensure food totes are stocked
- during night shifts, perform deep cleaning including drains, floors, restrooms, machinery and prepare for morning rush
