The role of Cashier is vital in this setting, serving as the first point of contact for customers. Cashiers play a critical customer service role by providing fast, friendly, accurate, and safe service. They handle checkout and return transactions with efficiency and attention to detail. Additionally, Cashiers monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout area to ensure it operates smoothly and that customers receive assistance as needed. They actively seek product and project knowledge to better inform customers and identify opportunities to enhance sales through suggestive selling. Following all company policies and procedures rigorously is crucial to minimize shrink and ensure accurate transactions.
The Head Cashier holds a leadership position within the team, responsible for positioning Cashiers effectively on the floor and supporting them with tasks such as expediting price checks and approving Point of Sale transactions and markdowns across various service points including mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental. This role requires providing frontline escalation support for customer issues and playing an active part in the coaching, supervision, and training of Front End Associates. The Head Cashier participates in onboarding new Cashiers and utilizes all available tools to coach and develop team members, cultivating a motivated and skilled workforce. A preferred qualification for this role is a minimum of one year of Cashier experience, demonstrating practical knowledge of customer service and transaction handling in a retail environment. This position offers individuals a dynamic and rewarding work experience, combining customer interaction with leadership opportunities within a supportive team-oriented culture.
