The role of Cashier/Checker at Kroger is a vital position focused on delivering an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. This role requires acting as the friendly face and approachable presence that greet and assist customers actively. Responsibilities include swiftly, accurately, and efficiently processing customer transactions at the checkout, operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, and handling multiple tender types including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and loyalty offers. Attention to detail is critical as the Cashier/Checker must adhere to company policies regarding cash handling, loss prevention, and restricted sales items such as alcohol and tobacco.

Cashiers are expected to contribute to a safe and welcoming environment by following established food safety regulations, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance practices. Communication skills and the ability to manage conflict in a calm, respectful manner are essential for resolving issues and ensuring that customers feel valued and supported.
