The role of Cashier is a critical part of our front-end operations and acts as a direct point of contact with our customers. Cashiers play a vital customer service role by processing Checkout and/or Return transactions efficiently and accurately, while also ensuring the safety and satisfaction of each customer. In addition to handling Traditional Checkout lanes, Cashiers are responsible for monitoring and maintaining the Self-Checkout areas, helping customers navigate this technology and promptly resolving any issues. They actively seek to enhance their product knowledge to provide customers with useful information and identify additional selling opportunities that contribute to store sales.
The Head Cashier position is a leadership role within the cashier team, providing support and supervision to Cashiers. This role involves expediting price checks, approving Point of Sale transactions, markdowns, and returns across multiple service areas including mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental. The Head Cashier serves as the first level of escalation for customer issues, offering prompt conflict resolution and ensuring customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Head Cashier assists in supervising, coaching, and training Front End Associates by participating actively in new employee onboarding and utilizing all available resources to develop the skills and performance of Cashiers. The preferred qualification for this role is over one year of experience working as a Cashier, demonstrating proficiency in customer service and transaction handling.
