The role of the hourly staff member is vital to the smooth operation of the restaurant. Key aspects of the role include greeting and thanking customers as they arrive and leave, taking orders both verbally and through automated systems, and efficiently relaying these orders to the kitchen team. The staff member will be hands-on in cooking, preparing, and packaging food and beverages using various kitchen equipment such as fryers, open-flamed gas grills, cooking vats, and food processors. Adherence to strict food safety and sanitation standards is mandatory to ensure that all products served meet high-quality standards.

Additionally, the staff member will be responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels in both the kitchen and service areas, including food, beverages, packaging materials, sauces, and utensils. The role also involves the handling of customer payments with accuracy and professionalism using the cash register system. The cleaning responsibilities are comprehensive and include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, rinsing, and polishing all areas of the restaurant including tables, seats, windows, doors, countertops, and kitchen equipment. Maintaining a safe and pleasant public access to the restaurant is also a critical component of this position.

Operational knowledge of various kitchen and service equipment is required, including cash registers, fryers, grills, steamers, ovens, slicers, and dishwashers. The staff member will also be expected to perform any other duties as assigned by management or supervisors, working with a sense of urgency to maintain service standards. Understanding and adherence to all company policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation protocols as outlined in the Staff Member Handbook, are fundamental to success in this role.

Job Duties

  • Greet and thank customers
  • place customer food and beverage orders through verbal communication and/or automated systems
  • relay customer food and beverage orders from service counter to kitchen operations
  • cook, prepare, package and pour food and beverages using kitchen equipment while following food safety and sanitation procedures
  • stock kitchen and customer service operations with food, beverage, packaging and service materials
  • stock salsa bars with sauces, condiments, paper and utensils
  • fill food and beverage orders as part of coordinated kitchen and customer service operations
