The role of a Cashier/Checker at Kroger is an integral part of the customer experience. This position is centered around delivering outstanding service by being visible, actively greeting, engaging with, and assisting customers throughout their shopping journey. Cashiers process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently, utilizing the Point of Sale (POS) system to handle various types of payments including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and loyalty offers according to company policies. They must have a solid understanding of cash control procedures and adhere to guidelines regarding sales of restricted items such as alcohol and tobacco.

Beyond transactional duties, Cashiers at Kroger ensure the safety and cleanliness of their environment, adhering to food safety regulations and company safety programs. They contribute to loss prevention by managing cash shortages or overages honestly and effectively.
