In this role, the Cashier/Checker plays a crucial part in upholding Kroger’s dedication to outstanding customer service and operational excellence. Job Duties
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
- Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons
- Control loss by adhering to limits on cash shortages and overages
- Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with seasonal and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions and notify management
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and report equipment needing repair
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions
- Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment
- Manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
