Job Description
Food 4 Less, based in California, is a well-established grocery retail chain that has proudly been serving customers across over 100 stores throughout California and the Midwest since its merger with The Kroger Company in 1998. As a part of the Kroger family of companies, Food 4 Less is committed to creating a workplace where diverse teams thrive with a shared passion for food and customer service. This company places a strong emphasis on community, innovation, and inclusivity, working tirelessly to ensure that food is at the heart of every experience provided to customers, communities, and employees alike. The company culture is deeply rooted in core values such as respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others, with a genuine belief that people matter, both inside and outside the workplace.
The role available is a Cashier/Checker position that plays a critical part in delivering outstanding customer experiences through exceptional service. This position involves being the visible face of Food 4 Less by actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers to ensure they feel welcome and appreciated. Cashiers are responsible for processing transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling a variety of payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and coupons. The position requires a thorough understanding of company policies related to cash shortages, restricted sale items, pricing discrepancies, and coupon processing. Safety and cleanliness are paramount, so the Cashier/Checker also plays a role in maintaining a safe and orderly environment by adhering to food safety regulations, reporting unsafe conditions, and assisting with equipment inspections.
This role offers more than just a typical cashier job; it is an opportunity to be part of a family where careers can grow, and personal potentials are unlimited. Employees at Food 4 Less have access to comprehensive benefits including healthcare coverage, paid time off, emotional and financial support programs, valuable associate discounts, and industry-leading education and training opportunities. Whether looking for part-time work or a long-term career path, Food 4 Less welcomes individuals who are caring, purpose-driven, and eager to learn. The company also practices fair hiring policies in accordance with local ordinances to ensure equal opportunities for all applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records.
Joining Food 4 Less means becoming part of a community dedicated to feeding the human spirit and supporting every employee's personal and professional growth. It is a place where you can develop meaningful skills, work cooperatively with a diverse team, and contribute to an inclusive environment that values honesty and integrity. If you are motivated by providing excellent customer service, upholding safety standards, and being part of a dynamic retail operation, Food 4 Less offers a fulfilling role with competitive benefits and pathways for advancement.
