Job Description
Kroger is a leading company in the grocery retail industry with a rich history that dates back over a century, starting as a small grocery store in Cincinnati. Today, Kroger has evolved into the largest grocer in the United States, operating nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states under 28 different names. Kroger takes pride in being America's grocer, uniting diverse teams driven by a passion for food and people. This dedication to service and community is the foundation of Kroger's mission: To Feed the Human Spirit. The company emphasizes innovation and continuous improvement to provide outstanding experiences for customers, communities, and employees alike, with food always at the heart of everything they do. At Kroger, people are valued, and the company is committed to helping associates grow by providing the support and tools necessary to shape both their careers and their lives. Whether seeking part-time work or full career opportunities, Kroger offers fresh paths for success to applicants who value care, purpose, and a hunger to learn. Joining the Kroger family means becoming part of a community that prioritizes respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety, ensuring every associate and customer feels valued and supported.
The role available is a Cashier/Checker position, which is pivotal in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service on the front lines. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a clean and safe environment to encourage customers to return. This position requires a friendly and engaging presence, as the cashier is often the most visible associate in the store. They must greet customers, assist with their needs, and process transactions quickly and accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system. The role involves handling multiple types of payment, including cash, checks, credit cards, debit cards, SNAP EBT, and other forms of tender. Integrity and attention to detail are essential since cashiers must adhere to company policies regarding cash handling, restricted sales, coupon redemption, and loss prevention measures.
Additionally, cashiers play an essential role in supporting food safety and compliance by following guidelines and reporting any safety or maintenance issues promptly to management. This position requires the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, exhibiting professionalism, honesty, and excellent communication skills. The position offers flexible scheduling options for both part-time and full-time work, accommodating a variety of needs and life circumstances. Kroger also provides a wealth of benefits to support the well-being and growth of its associates, including healthcare coverage, paid time off, emotional and financial support resources, valuable discounts, tuition reimbursement, and numerous opportunities for personal and professional development. Working at Kroger is more than just a job—it is a chance to be part of a company that values people, fosters collaboration, and invests in the future of its employees.
