This job opportunity at HMSHost is located at Albany International Airport, where the company manages a range of food and beverage outlets catering to travelers. The position of Cashier plays a critical role in ensuring seamless sales transactions and excellent customer service. This is a non-exempt role with an advertised compensation of $18.00 per hour. The Cashier will be responsible for operating cash registers, accurately processing payments via cash or credit card, providing change, and maintaining compliance with the company's cash handling policies.
Apart from transactional duties, the Cashier is expected to maintain a thorough knowledge of products and services available within their unit, ensuring they can assist customers effectively and recommend items as needed. The role also includes support tasks such as cleaning the food and display areas, restocking shelves, and assisting with the general upkeep of the workspace to maintain a welcoming environment. Job Requirements
- Cash handling experience preferred
- Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions
- Ability to lift or push objects weighing over 10 lbs
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents
- Ability to converse comfortably with customers
- Must be enthusiastic and outgoing
- Previous customer service experience is an asset

Job Duties
- Operate a cash register and receive payment from customers in cash or credit card
- Accurately count and provide change to customers
- Follow all HMSHost customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
- Maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the unit
- Clean and stock work area
- Assist in locating, reconciling, and verifying the accuracy of transactions
- Operate equipment with peripheral electronic data processing
