Job Requirements

  • Customer service experience

  • knowledge of basic math including counting, addition, and subtraction
  • prior experience as a bagger or courtesy clerk preferred
  • ability to work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments

Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers
  • process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • understand and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
  • adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work to control loss
  • adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, DVDs
  • report pricing discrepancies
  • follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • comply with food safety regulations and guidelines
  • reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
  • inspect equipment and report repair needs
  • create a welcoming environment by answering product-related questions
  • adhere to local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
  • manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner
  • act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
