The Customer Service Associate role at G&M is designed for a dynamic individual who thrives in a team-oriented environment and is capable of multitasking efficiently. The associate will be responsible for managing point-of-sale transactions accurately and expediently, using POS systems that handle cash register and fuel console interactions. On top of processing payments, the associate is expected to engage in suggestive selling, participate actively in promotional campaigns, and maintain an awareness of sales goals to contribute to the store's overall success.

This position also requires the associate to ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements, including checking IDs for regulated products and strictly adhering to corporate and governmental policies. The role includes food preparation duties such as brewing coffee, managing condiment bars, and preparing hot food items following store procedures. Maintaining an immaculate store environment is another key facet, requiring regular cleaning, stocking shelves, organizing backroom supplies, and ensuring all equipment is sanitized and operational.

For shifts involving barista duties, the candidate will back up cashiers and ensure the timely brewing of fresh coffee and upkeep of coffee stations. Night shift responsibilities include deep cleaning tasks, restocking, and preparing the store for the next day's customers. The position demands flexibility to work various shifts and locations within the district as needed.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • excellent computer skills including PDI Enterprise POS competency
  • excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • ability to learn simple tasks quickly and work independently
  • basic math skills
  • Food Handlers Permit if required by store or county
  • ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing
  • open availability to work all shifts and stores within district
  • ability to stand or walk entire shift
  • ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch
  • ability to push and pull with 20 pounds force
  • good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Job Duties

  • Take measures to preserve safety of employees and others at work location
  • conduct sales transactions accurately and quickly
  • operate POS including cash register and fuel console
  • perform service transactions like credit cards, coupons, vendor check-in, alcohol, tobacco, lottery, and fast food sales
  • check identification according to company policy
