Job Description

The position is within a retail environment where customer interaction and efficient service are paramount. The Cashier role is responsible for processing checkout and return transactions, managing the self-checkout area, and providing customers with knowledgeable product information to support their purchasing decisions. Beyond simply ringing up sales, Cashiers play a key role in monitoring the store’s operational integrity by enforcing loss prevention practices. They also identify selling opportunities through product knowledge, which enhances customer satisfaction and drives sales. For those advancing to the Head Cashier position, responsibilities expand to include supervising and supporting Cashiers by positioning them effectively during shifts, expediting price checks, approving various types of transactions and markdowns across several service areas, including mainline registers, self-checkout, returns, pro desk, special services, and tool rental.

Head Cashiers are also tasked with handling first-level escalations of customer issues, ensuring that complex problems are managed efficiently and professionally. Moreover, they actively participate in the training and development of new and existing Cashiers, utilizing all available tools to coach and support associate growth. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask and manage a dynamic work environment. The preferred qualification for the Head Cashier position is more than one year of cashier experience, highlighting the need for proven expertise in transaction management and customer service.
