The Cashier/Checker position at Fred Meyer offers an exciting opportunity to become part of this dynamic and supportive environment. Your role is essential in controlling loss by managing cash shortages or overages honestly and following guidelines accurately. You will be responsible for reporting pricing discrepancies and cooperating with store management to ensure a well-run operation.

Job Duties

  • Actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures
  • Adhere to company policies on cash shortages, overages, and restricted sale items
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow company policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to food safety regulations
  • Comply with safety procedures and notify management of unsafe conditions
  • Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions
  • Work cooperatively in high paced and stressful environments
  • Manage conflict reasonably and nonconfrontationally
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding business and customer information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
