The Retail Associate position at G&M is an hourly role reporting directly to the Store Manager. This position is not a managerial role but plays a critical part in the smooth operation of the store. The Retail Associate is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service according to G&M corporate standards, efficiently operating the Point of Sale system including cash registers and fuel consoles, and accurately handling money and various payment types for products sold. The role requires the individual to multitask effectively, working as part of a team to create a friendly, safe, and clean environment.

Furthermore, the Retail Associate is involved in a range of duties from sales transactions involving credit cards, coupons, alcohol, tobacco, lottery products, and fast food, to ensuring compliance with identification checks and company policies. Active participation in sales promotions and campaigns, suggestive selling, and building strong customer relationships are key components of the role. The candidate should also be mindful of sales goals and store performance.

In addition to customer service and sales responsibilities, the Retail Associate ensures that the store environment is impeccably maintained. This includes preparation of hot food items per store procedures, regular cleaning of equipment and store areas, maintenance of the fuel delivery area, restocking of merchandise, conducting daily inspections of perishable products for freshness, and adhering to safety and emergency protocols. There are also specialized duties when working specific shifts such as barista tasks or night shift deep cleaning.

The position demands physical ability to stand or walk throughout the shift, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, kneel, and operate hand trucks as necessary. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision are important.
