Job Description
The Michaels Companies Inc. is a leading arts and crafts retail chain in North America, operating over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, as well as online. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has established itself as the premier destination for creative enthusiasts of all skill levels. The company is committed to inspiring creativity and celebration through a vast selection of crafting supplies, custom framing, seasonal décor, and more. Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise. With a strong presence both in-store and online, Michaels aims to provide excellent customer experiences that foster joy and creativity.
This position is based at the Michaels store located in Rochester Hills, MI. The role is primarily focused on delivering exceptional customer service while supporting daily store operations. As a member of the store team, you will engage in activities that include assisting customers in locating products, providing knowledgeable solutions, and ensuring a seamless checkout experience. You will participate actively in merchandise handling duties such as truck unloading, stocking shelves, and maintaining planogram standards to uphold the store's visual appeal and inventory accuracy.
The Store Team Member is also responsible for educating customers about the Michaels Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards to enhance customer loyalty, as well as facilitating enrollment for these offerings. Additionally, the role supports the omnichannel business strategy by handling Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) processes, ensuring customers have a convenient and flexible shopping experience. Attention to detail and commitment to store safety and shrink reduction programs are integral to maintaining a safe and efficient retail environment.
Team members in this role are expected to uphold company standards and policies, interact respectfully with customers and colleagues, and serve as role models projecting a positive image of the organization. Cross-training in custom framing sales and production will be provided to enhance product knowledge and service capabilities. This full-time or part-time position requires physical stamina as it involves standing for long periods, lifting heavy boxes, and occasional use of ladders for shelf access. Working hours may vary including nights, weekends, and early mornings, reflecting the retail environment’s dynamic schedule.
Michaels offers comprehensive benefits to its team members, including health insurance options covering medical, dental, and vision care. Paid time off and tuition assistance programs prioritize employee wellness and personal development. Generous employee discounts encourage further creative projects. As an equal opportunity employer, Michaels promotes a diverse and inclusive work culture and provides reasonable accommodations for team members with disabilities to ensure everyone can thrive in their roles. Joining Michaels means becoming part of a vibrant community dedicated to creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement in both product offerings and customer service excellence.
