Job Description

Kroger is America's largest grocer, with a rich history that began over a century ago in Cincinnati as a small grocery store. Today, Kroger operates nearly 2,800 stores across 35 states under 28 different brand names. As a major player in the retail grocery industry, Kroger is dedicated to not only providing quality food products but also creating meaningful experiences for customers, employees, and communities. The company is driven by a core mission: To Feed the Human Spirit. This mission highlights Kroger's commitment to nourishing people beyond just food, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. Kroger values diversity, integrity, respect, honesty, and safety. The company culture promotes teamwork among associates who share a passion for food and customer service, emphasizing growth and development opportunities within the organization.

The role being offered is for a Cashier/Checker position within Kroger's stores. This is a vital customer-facing role focused on creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The Cashier/Checker is responsible for providing friendly and efficient checkout assistance, ensuring transactions are processed quickly, accurately, and with a positive attitude. This position requires effective communication skills, knowledge of basic math, and familiarity with POS systems to handle cash, credit, debit, coupons, and various special tenders such as SNAP EBT and WIC.

In this position, associates will uphold Kroger's core values by maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. They will engage customers warmly, answer product questions, and reinforce store safety standards. The role also involves identifying pricing discrepancies, following store policies on restricted sales, and supporting loss prevention efforts. Associates will have opportunities to grow with the company through Kroger's extensive training programs, tuition reimbursement for continuing education, and career pathways. Kroger offers flexible scheduling for full-time and part-time roles, comprehensive healthcare benefits, discounts, and emotional and financial support programs. The company's culture focuses on associate well-being and values employees who demonstrate honesty, respect, and a hunger to learn. This position is ideal for individuals seeking a meaningful opportunity in retail that offers both professional development and the chance to contribute to their community.
